流行性乙型脑炎病毒(Japanese Encephalitis Virus/JEV),简称乙脑病毒(JEV),属于黄病毒家族,是日本脑炎血清复合体的一部分。该复合体由九种基因和抗原相关的病毒组成,其中一些在马身上造成严重影响,同时还包括四种已知会感染人类的病毒,如西尼罗河病毒。JEV与西尼罗河病毒和圣路易斯脑炎病毒有着密切的关系。

该病毒的正义单链RNA基因组被包裹在由衣壳蛋白组成的衣壳内,外包膜由包膜蛋白(E)形成,起着保护性抗原的作用,并帮助病毒进入细胞。同时,基因组编码多个非结构蛋白,包括NS1、NS2a、NS2b、NS3、NS4a、NS4b和NS5。其中,NS1为分泌型蛋白,NS3假定为解旋酶,NS5则为病毒RNA聚合酶。乙脑病毒会在内质网腔内快速积累大量病毒蛋白,这一过程已引起广泛关注。
